This is the first official post for my photography blog.

I did go back and import all my photography related posts from my personal blog….so this isn’t the “First Blog Entry”…But it’s the first “Real Blog Entry”  Yeah, it makes sense in my head…so I guess that’s all that matters.

I am excited to start this adventure in Photography! It should be a fun ride….

I feel like I should post a photo to go along with this blog….So here is one of my son. He is way to much fun!

My friend KC is so cute and pregnant. I asked her if I could take some photos for my portfolio….

Thanks, KC – for letting me practice on you. It’s different doing this for friends vs. family. It’s nice to get more experience – plus I have to “act” professional and tell them what to do, or where to stand…I have to be prepared with what I want out of the photo shoot. It’s not as easy as I originally thought. Most times, when I ask someone what they want…they have no clue. So that means it’s my job to figure out what “looks good.”  But it’s still way fun.

….plus as a bonus…I’ll be doing newborn photos of baby Jenna Leigh.

By the way…I’m still adding to my portfolio. I need to do some engagement sessions, newborn sessions and tag along for a few weddings (I don’t want to do a wedding solo just yet). If you know of anyone who would like some photos for really cheap (like totally free)…send them my way.

Sarah - Great job, Jill! Those look great!ReplyCancel

This was a few weeks back when I took photos of Lily.

I had a lot of fun taking pictures of all my girls. (Sam was over at his friends house…so he didn’t get in on the action.)

The lighting is from the window in the toy room. I set up a white table cloth and then a black table cloth. I am stoked with how well the photos turned out…my own little personal photo studio!!

It looks to me like Katie and Caroline had the most fun. They obviously LOVE being in front of the camera (I hope they don’t grow out of this stage too soon).  Emily was too much fun….so much personality in her expressions.
I’ve been meaning to post these for several weeks now…but I hadn’t gone through them yet (only the Lily photos).  So here are the pictures…and some fun layouts.
I just love my girls…They are all just too dang cute!!
Now I need to do some photos with Sam…This is way too much fun!  I love my job….being a mom is just the bestest ever!

So, being that I’ve been practicing on everyone else but my own family. I thought it only right that I should take Lily’s 9 month photos. (she’s almost 10 months old…so I’ve been running out of time)

Here is my little cutie pie!! She is such an angel!

Just so you know…taking photos of a 9 month old is a two man job. And I mean “two adults”. It wasn’t easy to get her to sit still. She kept crawling over to me to try and drool on my camera. Then she was cranky at me for putting her back on the black background….Hence there were no wardrobe changes.

But – she is still dang cute….

I went out with Mari Bersch and her family. Her sister was in town from South Dakota. It was fun to take pictures of siblings, cousins, grandkids and parents….a nice medley of really nice people.

What a fun photo shoot!! It was so much fun to go from the Mesa Art Center to the Mesa Arizona Temple. I can’t decide which location I like better….but I don’t think I have to decide.

I am thinking that I need to scope out a better variety of venues for photos. I know several wedding venues that would allow me to go and take pictures. But I need some outdoor settings….so – if you’re reading this and have any suggestions…just let me know.  I can’t take all my photos at the MAC….don’t get me wrong – it’s a nice location. But there is more to life than steps and orange backgrounds.

Anyway, I digress….

Here are some samples of the photos with the Bersch’s. I am happy to have such great friends that let me “practice” with them. 🙂
